Growth of Alpha and Omega Project Vision

Street GirlThe birth of the Alpha and Omega vision began in 1979 when my wife and I began working with neglected children in Southern Illinois, whose lives centered on the streets, rather than in their homes.

This led to our becoming foster parents for 11 years. I then started to travel outside the USA and saw first hand the needs of children in other countries. We began to see a larger picture of the problem in our nation and our world.

African OrphansWe began to envision a place where abandoned children who were living on the streets could have a place to live. Knowing that we would be unable to live in every country that had this need, I remembered a program called Foster Grandparents. Thus we began to promote the idea of using the talents and skills of the elderly with these unwanted, unloved children. Through the years we have refined the concept to its present form.

"Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me." (Mark 9:37 NIV)
